Mancheriyal is major Muncipality in Adilabad district. Mancherial was previously called Garmilla. It is the major town in Adilabad district. It is a commercial hub of the coal belt area of Singareni Collieries.

Population 2011 :

The total population of Mancherial UA/Metropolitan region is 163,875. The male population of which is 83,961 while female population is 79,914.

Literacy Rate 2011 :
The literacy rate of Mancherial Agglomeration is 75.71% which is lower than National Urban average of 85 %. Literacy rate for male and female for Mancherial stood at 83.16 % and 67.92 % respectively. Total literates in Mancherial UA were 114,119 of which males were 64,092 and remaining 50,027 were females.

Child Population 2011 :
The children (0-6 age) population of Mancherial UA is around 8.02 % of total Mancherial UA population which is lower than National Urban average of 10.93 %. Total children in Mancherial Urban region were 13,150 of which male were 6,890 while remaining 6,260 childs were female.

Sex Ratio 2011 :
The sex ratio of female to male in Mancherial UA was found higher with figure of 952 females against national urban average of 926 females per 1000 males. For children (0-6 age), girls were 909 per 1000 boys in Mancherial Urban region against national average of 902 girls per 1000 boys.

It has a thriving market for agricultural produce.
It is on the main north-south railway route from Delhi to Chennai. The major junctions up north are Ballarshah in Maharashtra and Kazipet in Warangal District to the south.
Its proximity to the rich cement minerals and the coal mines fuels the economy.
